Floral fun at the Gauteng Summer CupThe Summer Garden, a spectacular, floral-inspired hospitality area right on the track, has become one of the most popular areas from which to enjoy the annual Gauteng Summer Cup at Turffontein. Started seven years ago, by event company Campbell + Campbell, the Summer Garden offers guests an opportunity to dress up, dine out, sip their drinks in the sun, and enjoy the thrill of live horse racing. “In 2013, we were invited by Phumelela to create this area, and every year it has grown immensely,” says C+C owner, Angus Campbell. “Over the last three years we have seen the Summer Cup grow phenomenally. The introduction of the half-time show and the carnival, and all the carnival elements, made a huge impact and so this year we’ve created a VIP version of the Summer Garden to accommodate the increasing interest in the area.” Guests can expect a fun line-up of DJs, a beautifully styled area, complete with flower walls for those perfect photo ops, an impressive crowd of sartorially minded visitors and great food and drinks. A partnership with Valdo, the leading producer of fine Prosecco, has been confirmed so expect a few elegant surprises and loads of delicious Rose and bubbles. Of course, it’s all about the racing, and there’s no better spot from which to watch the action, than the trackside Summer Garden. “We look forward to hosting our Summer Garden guests this year, and to introducing a whole new group of people to the thrill of horseracing,” says Campbell.
